Liu Yuanfeng

Mr. Liu Yuanfeng, born in November 1956, graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts), majoring in Dyeing & Textile Design. He is the current President of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology,  professor, PhD supervisor, and an expert that receives Special Subsidy granted by the State Council.  He is also deputy director of Education Ministry’s Steering Committee supervising textile and clothing science and technology teaching in higher education institutions, director of Clothing Design and Engineering Teaching Sub-Committee, Vice Chairman of Chinese Fashion Designers Association, Vice President of the China Textile Engineering Society(CTES), Vice President of Beijing Textile and Garment Industry Association, CPPCC Beijing branch member.

Research projects
1.took the lead in several national major research projects, such as designing the uniforms and costumes for Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, the clothing for general public performing in China’s 60th National Day mass parade and that for the volunteers. Participated in the Beijing “Capital of Fashion” program.
2. Played a leading role in the “Creation and Development of BIFT’s own fashion brand” project, and designed new generation of Chinese academic dresses for Bachelors, Masters, Doctorates and faculties and also uniforms for primary and middle school students in Beijing.
3. Played a leading role in the doctoral program of “The Rescue, Inheritance and Design Innovation of Traditional Chinese Costume Culture”, which has been approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
4. Hosted the national teaching team of “Combining Art and Engineering in Fabric and Textile Design”
5. Hosted the project “Inheritance and Design Innovation of National Costume Culture” (the Talent Training Project by Beijing Municipal Commission of Education)
6. Hosted the “Design and R&D of High Performance and Sports Apparel” project (the Talent Training Project by Beijing Municipal Commission of Education).
7. Hosted the “R&D and Design on High-tech Fiber Fabric of Garment” project (the Science and Technology Innovation Platform Construction Project by Beijing Municipal Commission of Education).
8. Hosted the “Care Apparel Research and the Transforming into Application” project (the Beijing Science and Technology Plan Project)
9. Hosted the “the Team of Development and Innovation of New Textile Design and technology" project (the Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Team Project)

 “Fashion Art Design” ,won National Textbook Awards, is recognized as the National Textbooks for the Tenth Five-Year Plan as well as the Eleventh Five-Year Plan of General Higher Education, and won the Excellent Textbooks for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education
"Liu Yuanfeng's Fashion Quartet" ,won the Outstanding Book Award of CNTAC(China National Textile And Apparel Council).
"Modern Fashion Painting - Liu Yuanfeng’s Fashion Album”, won the "Best Book Award" in the Second National Selection of Clothing Books and Periodicals, he was praised as "the first person in fashion painting".
