Roy Ascott
Professor of Technoetic Arts (a comprehensive discipline of Science, Art and Technology) of University of Plymouth, UK, and the founder of international new media arts.
Professor Roy Ascot was born in Bath, England in 1934. he studied painting in his early years and became active in the field of interactive multimedia arts as both an artist and theorist in the 1960s. He creatively introduced cybernetic theory and telecommunications into multimedia arts creation and brought significant influence to the development of multimedia arts in Britain and Europe. He devotes himself to the study of the impact of digital and telecommunications networks on awareness; pioneering the use of Internet in arts and becoming a leading role in the application of information and communication technologies in arts.
He has participated in many exhibitions around the world, including the Venice Architecture Biennale, V2, Milan Triennale, Brazil Southern Cone Biennale, European Media Arts Festival, 2010 Korea Incheon International Digital Arts Festival Exhibition, Paris Modern Art Museum exhibitions.
He is a UNESCO consultant and also the consultant to the art committees, media centers, and art festivals in Europe, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, and the United States, etc.
